Profile

Dr. Hyejin Kim leads an exciting career as soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, and conductor. Dr. Kim has judged at Howard county solo and ensemble auditions, American Asian Music Society’s International competition, and MSMTA/ASTA solo competition.

She attended Catholic University of America with music scholarship, graduating with Doctor of Musical Arts, and received Master of Music from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. She won the first place at Catholic University America concerto competition in 2008.

She won the first place at 2013 American Protégé International Piano & String competition and was invited to play at Carnegie Hall in 2013. She received scholarship at Aspen Music Festival, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival. Dr. Kim played at Allentown Symphony orchestra as an acting assistant principle viola and a section viola. She was an orchestral member at Allentown Symphony orchestra, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, Hanbit Orchestra at Kennedy center, and Avanti orchestra, and performed as a chamber musician at Morgan University and Dickison University. Dr. Kim performed as a soloist at Lyceum museum, Riderwood village chapel, Calvary Baptist Church, Church of the Epiphany, and Goodwin hall at Peabody conservatory.

She worked as a member of string and chamber faculty at Levine school of music for 8 years. Currently, Dr. Kim is a conductor at Bridge Youth Orchestra, a solo violist at the Friday Morning Club, and a violist at the Bethesda Summer Music Festival. Her viola instrument is made by Luis Manfio modeled after Andrea Guarneri.
